Summer Gathering
28–31 August 2008

We had a great time at this year's gathering. Camping and entertainment's were all down on the bottom field only this time as the top field is now a garden. Everyone I spoke to said they preferred it as there is a view and everyone is all together.

The weather was OK too. Setting up and thru to Friday was overcast but warm and didn't rain. Saturday was a clear sunny day tho Sunday was very odd, wind a little drizzle then all dried out an hour later. There was a sever weather warning for Sussex on the radio and a hurricane in Brighton but apart from some wind for a couple of hours the evening ended up very pleasant.

We tried a few different workshops this year which were well received. We hired Lost Horizons lovely set-up for the second workshop space and a place to hang out in the evening, which worked well. The music was it's usual mix of drums/African beats, to great covers of Ry Cooder to Brannagan playing two guitars at a time to Kangaroo Moon playing a fantastic set past our curfew on the stage. Then they went over to Lost Horizons and did a stunning acoustic set there... what a night.

The Kids Area got up to their usual fun, fun, fun culminating in a fantastic Kids Parade on Saturday Night. Another attraction was the lovingly constructed and decorated Sound Garden right next to the Healing Area. At night it's all lit with solar powered LED lights illuminating the creeping roses.

For the first time this year Café Fuscia was the main food outlet. They did a great job with modestly priced veggie food, drinks and cakes. Lost Horizons and the Chai Teepee also provided relaxing environments for drinks and cake. I can personally recommend an egg sandwich in a Teepee!

If you've ever been to TribalEarth you will know we are a laid back camp. After a summer of full on festivals we provide an end of season space to chill out and enjoy the vibe, and this year we did good vibe! Lots of happy faces all weekend telling me how good the chilled vibe was this year.

Thanks for all your praise over the four days. This was the first one run by the committee and I was kinda holding my breath. We look forward to greeting you all again next year.

WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO EMAIL IN A SHORT TESTIMONIAL FOR THIS COLUMN.

HERE ARE SOME MARK REMEMBERS FROM THE EVENT.

The most relaxed camp I have ever been too.

I just love your new composting toilets.

The opening circle was fantastic, unlike others, it was so un-threatening.

Des does a mighty opening ceremony.

I've never known so many teenagers be so chilled!

This bottom field is so much better, just look at the view. It's like looking over 'The Shire".

The highlight of my year so far! This festival feeds my soul - live music, drumming, dancing, yoga, delicious food, magical marquees and teepees and best of all a meeting of kindred spirits.
